Kate Whitehall, Marketing and Communications

Kate Whitehall fell in love with musical theater in middle school. She bought albums for as many musicals as a she could with her allowance and sang along with them for years even though she didn’t know the story line and would never see most of them performed live.

She finally saw her first Broadway musical, “Fun Home,” in NYC in 2015!

A music education major in college, she played electric bass for a production of Godspell. It was the first time she’d been in the band for a theatrical production and she was hooked! And while not technically a musical, she has played in the orchestra (French horn) and sang in a symphonic chorale for “Carmina Burana,” including a choral gig with the Pacific NW Ballet. She found that both playing an instrument and singing this piece of music is extremely satisfying.

During student teaching she discovered that she didn’t enjoy hanging out with kids so she changed her major to business administration and then left college and became a self-taught graphic designer and Mac guru. She worked as a typesetter and paste-up artist at a community newspaper in high school. She’s had the opportunity to work with some of the best designers and design firms in the northwest and learned her craft working with them. She’s been designing publications, retail materials, marketing materials, identity, and theater posters for more than 25 years.
