Movement for Creativity – What stories do our bodies want to tell? How do we listen to them? In this workshop, intuitive practitioner and performing artist HK Goldstein will create a space for students to take their first steps towards answering those questions. Utilizing a range of movement and mindfulness techniques, the class will explore how emotion lives in our bodies and how we can use what we feel to express ourselves, make art and change the way we move through the world. This workshop is designed for artists, non-artists and those who may fall somewhere in the middle. All bodies, genders and abilities welcome.
About the Instructor
HK Goldstein is a non-binary performing artist, advocate and intuitive practitioner. They received a BFA in Drama from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts in 2015. While at Tisch, HK studied at the Stella Adler Studio of Acting and the Experimental Theatre Wing, and directed productions at Playwrights Horizons Theatre School. They also trained in Commedia Dell’Arte in Florence, Italy and Shakespeare Performance at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, UK. While living in New York City, HK directed THUD! an original play by Ani Rider at the 2016 New York International Fringe Festival and You’re Going to Hell If You Laugh, a solo show developed in collaboration with and performed by Jessy Yates, at Dixon Place in 2016 and CUNY Graduate School’s Prelude Festival in 2017. HK co-created the critically acclaimed independent radio drama podcasts A World Where and The Mueller Report: A Radio Dramatization. They also worked for several years in film and television production on projects including Ramy (Hulu), Marriage Story (Netflix), and High Fidelity (Hulu). HK has practiced yoga for over a decade and is passionate about enabling others to understand and reflect upon their own body and how they move through the world. They imagine a future where all people, especially those of marginalized bodies, can prioritize their own physical wellbeing and care. They facilitate movement classes and offer tarot readings from a desire to share tools for inner reflection and understanding with their community. hkgoldstein.com
